Poetry: Jamie O’Connell

Birth

Jamie O’Connell

you eat the packaged tree
you scale the question, you drown the house
horses down icy mountains

slice appearances down to
             stumps

             hammer those nails
             you wild, wrinkled lion

             pray the transience
             blows away

my face tired, holes and eyes
a bee asks for company
she stings me and I tell her

             you die so strange
